Former rugby player on the ball at awards ceremony

A former rugby player’s prowess off the field in the care sector has led to him being a winner again.

Dedicated Luke Jenkins, 27, a married father-of-three, was recognised at the finals of the prestigious Wales Care Awards. He won silver after being shortlisted for the Promoting Fulfilled Lives award, sponsored by Boots.

Luke, who used to play on the wing for Dowlais and now coaches an under sevens team, is activities coordinator at Greenhill Manor care home in Duffryn Road, Pentrebach, Merthyr Tydfil. Former factory worker Luke, has been employed at Greenhill Manor since 2013 and has impressed colleagues in a short time. (more…)

Rugby hero Josh takes silver at care industry awards

A rugby-playing dad who devotes his time to help turn around the lives of young people in a children’s home has been presented with a top care award.

Josh Wilson, 25, scooped a silver trophy in the Exceptional Newcomer category of the Wales Care Awards 2016, run by Care Forum Wales.

The keen sportsman has been described as a role model for the youngsters he supports at a specialist therapeutic children’s home in Ruthin by encouraging them to strive for the best and keep active through sport. (more…)
